Tsukimiru Support
Track your monthly installments, loans, and subscriptions, and see how much room is left under a limit you set
Frequently Asked Questions
- Q. What is Tsukimiru?
- It is an iPhone and iPad app for your monthly payments, such as installment plans for furniture, appliances, phones, or cards, home and car loans, and subscriptions. Add them to see how long each one runs, your totals for this month and next, and how much you have paid and how much is left. You can also see how much room is left under a monthly limit you set.
- Q. Why is the app called “Tsukimiru”?
- Tsukimiru (月見る) means “see the month” in Japanese. The app was made in Japan, where it appears as “ツキミル” on the Home Screen. It is the same app.
- Q. What kinds of payments can I add?
There are three kinds.
- Installment: enter the monthly amount, the number of payments, and the first billing month. Please include any fees in the monthly amount.
- Loan: the monthly amount is calculated from the loan amount, annual interest rate, term, and repayment method (fixed payment or fixed principal). You can also record interest rate changes.
- Subscription: enter a monthly or yearly amount. Yearly subscriptions are counted only in the month they are billed.
- Q. What is the “monthly limit”?
- It is an amount you choose in Settings as your own guide for monthly payments. For each payment, you choose whether it counts toward the limit, and the app shows the difference between the limit and the total of those payments. Before adding a new installment, you can also try it out to see whether any month would go over the limit. The app only shows numbers; it does not judge whether a payment or a loan is a good idea.
- Q. Can I keep household and business payments separate?
- Yes. You can split your payments into groups such as “Household” and “Business,” and switch between each group and Combined (the total of all groups). Each group can have its own monthly limit and its own currency.
- Q. Which currencies are supported?
- Japanese yen, US dollars, euros, British pounds, Australian dollars, and Canadian dollars. The currency is set for each group. Amounts are never converted with exchange rates, and the app does not download exchange rates. When your groups use different currencies, Combined shows a separate total for each currency.
- Q. The monthly loan amount is slightly different from my lender's repayment schedule.
- This is because lenders round fractions of the smallest currency unit in different ways. For fixed-payment loans, you can override the monthly amount with the figure on your repayment schedule, and the balance is then calculated using that amount. The calculation rules are listed in the app under Settings > How We Calculate.
- Q. Does the app give financial advice or recommend lenders?
- No. Tsukimiru only calculates and displays the payments you add. It is not financial or tax advice, and it does not introduce, compare, or help you apply for banks, loans, cards, or other financial products.
- Q. Where is my data stored?
- Your payments are stored only on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app also deletes the data (it is included in your iPhone backup). When you switch to a new iPhone, your data carries over if you restore the new device from your iPhone backup.
- Q. Do I need to enter card or account numbers?
- No. There are no fields for card numbers, account numbers, or PINs. You can note the payment method in free text, such as “XX Card.”
- Q. Is it free?
- Tsukimiru is free to use, and no sign-in is needed. Starting with version 1.2, ads appear on Home and in All Payments. Subscribing to Tsukimiru PLUS (monthly or yearly, with a 1-month free trial) removes ads and the “Made with Tsukimiru” mark on exported images. Every feature works without PLUS.
- Q. Can I remove ads?
- Yes. Subscribe to Tsukimiru PLUS, an auto-renewable subscription, and ads no longer appear. You can subscribe from Tsukimiru PLUS in Settings, or from “Remove ads with PLUS” above an ad. New subscribers can try it free for 1 month. Payment is processed through Apple's In-App Purchase. Prices are shown in the app and on the App Store.
- Q. Ads came back after I switched to a new iPhone.
- Sign in with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe, then tap Restore Purchases on the Tsukimiru PLUS screen in Settings. As long as your subscription is active, ads are removed again at no extra cost.
- Q. How do I cancel Tsukimiru PLUS?
- On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, and choose Tsukimiru PLUS. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, you will not be charged for the next period, and you will not be charged if you cancel during the free trial. After you cancel, ads stay removed until the end of the current period.
- Q. Can I use it offline?
- Yes. All calculations are done on your device, so it works without a connection. The app goes online only to retrieve news and to show ads (ads do not appear without a connection). Exchange rates are entered by you, and the app never goes online to download them.
